The city of Guelph is located about 35 km east of Kitchener-Waterloo and 100 km west of downtown Toronto. It boasts a population of 120,000 and is considered to have a low crime rate, clean environment, as well as a high standard of living.
Also known as the ' Royal City', Guelph is a name taken from the British royal family in 1827. The immediate area exhibits various natural attractions, and natural trails along the two rivers that pass through Guelph, the Speed River and Eramosa River.
The city is also known for its limestone buildings, its abundance of green outdoor space, the unique downtown core and farmer's market, plus numerous music events, such as the Hillside Festival.
